What to know about MLB’s draft overhaul proposal

With 166 days until the expiration of Major League Baseball’s collective bargaining agreement and the fear of a long-lasting lockout to follow, Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association met Thursday for a bargaining session. Fact:
Less than 0.5% of high interscholastic baseball players in the US are ultimately drafted by MLB teams. Because the draft has been shortened to 20 rounds, only around 100 high schoolers sign out of high school each year, which makes the direct transition from high school to the MLB extremely rare.

Opinion:
Baseball is intentionally moving to become more of a foreign sport with Americans being shut out. In the early days of baseball, 100% of players were walkons. Now, non of the players come from ordinary people. That is not a good thing. Although High School players make up a very small percent, maybe 100 players a year, that become baseball players in the MLB, still shutting that totally down is not to encourage a college education but rather to totally shut Americans and especially blue collar Americans out of Baseball.

A lot of young people love baseball and have dreams of being a professional player. As they kill that dream, players can expect a lot less money as they lose all their fans and there are going to be a lot of worthless teams out there. Crazy.
